I get so stressed sometimes that it feels like I am dying. Today I was just wondering if stress can kill you. Can it?

Thanks that was very helpful
thank you so much
Stress affects nearly all aspects of the Body, and can affect appetite, thirst, blood pressure, pain sensitivity, heart rate, ability to think, and so on. Stress, even serious stress, over a short period if time is rarely fatal, but over long periods of time it can be.
My mother is going through some problems right now, and my father and I have both noticed that if she gets stressed, her condition immediately worsens. There have even been studies linking stress to likelihood of developing cancer, or surviving it. Same with many illnesses. It also affects memory, which I have experienced first hand many times, even stuttering when I'm severely stressed (bad stuttering, not light).
There are situations that are stressful which you may not physically, financially, etc escape. However, one can become stronger mentally and learn to refuse to let things stress you. You can become the one in control. Just like you can refuse to allow fear to control you, or defeat fear you once had.
So, as is my case, where I cannot escape the stress filled environment I am in, I CHOOSE not to let it have power over me.
For example, I am very ill, my body is broken. My spinal cord is damaged and often causes paralysis in my legs or severe pain. I'm a severe insomniac. I can no longer work despite having enjoyed hard work in the past and miss it. Even my memory is very clouded, with my train of thought disappearing in seconds. But rather than feel upset or seek pity (not claiming you or anyone is), I deny stress or depression it's power! I remain joyful and strong in mind and spirit. I will not push my faith on you, I'll just mention it in a moment. It is wrong to force it on anyone.
I know you may not be, but as I am a Christian, I find absolute freedom from stress through prayer with Christ. Don't worry, I won't push my beliefs on you. I'm saying YOU ALONE should decide whether or not you get upset, stressed, worry, discomfort, fear, and so on. They are mental things, so take your mind and declare you shall not give in. Do this for sickness as well. For people who are I'll often become more I'll when they start to give up, yet become less sick when they fight it simply with their thought and mindset! It's amazing.
May you be blessed. I pray for everyone, especially when I know of them online or in person. Be strong, don't let stress have what it wants. Treat it like a creature, deny it any victory over you!
Thank you for the helpful info.
