Can someone tell me about allowed medical practices in the past that are prohibited nowadays?

I have a presentation coming up to talk about medical rituals or practices that were allowed in the past but not nowadays .. 

I have some examples but i want something interesting to talk about .. Any ideas?

Leeches and blood letting are the first to come to mind. 

Institutionalisation of those that were mentally handicapped. 

Lobotomy, I'm pretty sure, is prohibited now.
