I have two dogs and one of them is acting stranger than normal. Occasionally, she’ll go in the gated off basement and she’ll stay down there, not exactly seeming to be looking for a particular location but doesn’t want to go upstairs, as I try to steer her upstairs but she’ll just try to go into another room instead. She’ll also jump up onto furniture occasionally and almost always is by peoples feet, although she’s losing her hearing. However, today she constantly went downstairs and than jumped up on furniture and stayed there for a longer time and did not want to get down. We let her and when we got her down she went back in the basement. This behavior is strange, but she seemed to exhibit the behavior today more than other days. My other dog who never goes to the bathroom on the floor did it multiple times today, seeming like he wanted to seek attention and followed what the other dog usually does, go to the bathroom (and he was also taken outside to go on multiple occasions as we take the other outside regularly). It was mostly today, so I’m wondering if they see something we don’t in the house such as a rodent, bugs, infestation, etc and are trying to get our attention (as one of them did this before but in a different way as she was much younger). The difference between this time and the last time is my dog would stare at a location, but she isn’t doing that and is instead acting out more than she usually does and focusing more on the basement. I’m also concerned if there is an underlying health issue in the female dog (the only issue is when she started to go on the floor about a year ago maybe the vet said she was completely healthy after we took her for blood work). Any person with an idea is okay, preferably someone who knows animals and their behavior so I can guess for sure weather this is a house issue or an issue with one or both of my animals.
