Can someone explain this joke as I don't get it please? Can mouth mean a person in Irish slang?

Murphy went to the dentist last week. 
The dentist said to him "Well, how is the mouth?" 
Murphy said, "She's sick in bed."

I'm guessing that Murphy objectifies his lady, as if only her mouth is of value to him.

It's referring to the fact that 'all women do is talk' in this case it's most likely his wife/girlfriend. Because she nags/complains/never stops talking he is calling her 'the mouth'.
