My teacher and I are having a healthy debate about whether or not soda can be catagorized as a candy. My teacher says no, just simply because
no one says it is. Personally, I have many reasons that lead me to believe soda CAN be a candy. The main thing that has me convinced is that candy
and soda are both sweet and sugary, and they're both "treats". Sure, soda is a liquid, but so are Juicy Drops and spray candies. I can extend my argument,
but I wanna hear the thoughts of strangers for a non-biased opinion. Any personal insight will be very helpful, thank you.
Can soda be grouped as a type of candy? (looking for opinions)?

If you say one thing and somebody else says another, that is arguing. It does not imply ill will or any will at all. An argument is simply saying something you think needs to be said.
And I say again, there is nothing to be gained by discussing this if your teacher does not agree right away.
Soda is classified as a soft drink. Doesn't mean it possesses no similar traits to other products, but it's moot to classify it as "80% candy" or somesuch.
Think of it in terms of taxonomy - taking an animal and claiming it can be grouped as a different family within the same order / class. It might have some essence of truth (interbreeding), however defeats the purpose of classification for a human; ML might utilise that sort of information, and oft reaches such conclusions as part of the process.
We're not arguing, it's just a topic of debate. Main reason we're debating this is because we're doing research on candy brands and I asked to do Coca-Cola. I know she's the type of person that can be reasoned with, so that's my goal: to convince her soda is basically candy. And if I can't sweet-talk her about it, I have a backup topic.
