Can I use white distilled vinegar on fish and chips?

I guess you can do anything you want to. Vinegar or lemon juice is served with fish because the acid neutralizes nitrogen compounds that have a fishy odor. Some people get used to the flavor and think lemon just naturally goes with fish, or malt vinegar with chips. If the fish has no noticeable flavor then there is no reason to add acid.
