Ask the doctor who prescribed it to you, reactions can differ person to person. However, it's usually a general rule of thumb to not mix drugs.

Any time you take any prescription medicine you should go to google.com and search the name to see what you find. For instance, carbamazepine is a nasty threat to people of Asian descent, such that a doctor should run tests to see if it is safe to prescribe. But for alcohol, it only says to be careful because it can make you extra sleepy.
