So I’m 22 years old and from Massachusetts. Back when I turned 21 me and my mother thought I had to get my own health insurance so I got my own health insurance due to misconceptions because she doesn’t speak English well and I just didn’t know much about health insurance. Last month I got a letter in the mail telling me that my state health insurance was going to be canceled for some strange reason. So I was wondering, is it possible for me to return to my mother’s health insurance because I’m not yet 26?
Can I return to my mother's health insurance after leaving it? (I'm 22)?

Hi there,
The answer is yes, you can return to your parent’s health insurance plan since you are still under the age of 26. Even you get married next year, you can still remain under their coverage until you turn that age. You can also stay covered if you’re not living at home, if you’re attending school, if you’re not being claimed as a dependant on their tax returns, and if you’re eligible to enroll in your employer’s plan.
Depending on your mother’s plan, you may be able to stay covered for your entire 26th year. For example, if you turn 26 in January, some plans will allow you to stay covered until December 31 of that year. See if her plan allows this.
Good luck!
