I purchased a chess board made of Plaster of Paris years ago, and the store is no longer there. I want to paint the "black" squares with medium brown acrylic paint, and then apply a blond wood stain to the entire board to darken the "black" squares and color the "white" squares a light wood color. Will this work well, or do I need to prep the plaster first? Any and all suggestions welcome.
Can I apply wood stain directly to Plaster of Paris?
