An electric company notified us that they will stop service to our business for a whole day, because they have to replace a rotten electric pole. The notice was about two weeks before the work. The scheduled day was the busiest day of the week. We make over 50% of sales on that day. I made a number of calls to reschedule the service to a different day. The electric company kept refusing my rescheduling request. Does the company have the right to do this? How should I solve this problem?

If it has to do with the safety of the general population I would think they do have the right. What if the pole broke and fell on people or a car or brought down power lines that took out power for the whole neighbohood or electrocuted someone?
Call city hall or mayors office and ask.
