Can Babies Have Nightmare From Scary Movies?

Question

My friend's 1 year old watched walking dead, and now she is worried her baby will have nightmares about the episode. I said she is probably to young to understand what the episodes means, and wouldn't know to be afraid of zombies, axes or blood and stuff? Can be babies be afraid of this stuff without any prior bad/scary experiences to compare it with? By 1 year old, are they mentally developed enough to see something on tv, and relate it something they were terrified with in real life?

A person has to learn what to be afraid of. At age 1, a kid does not even comprehend a story. At age 6 or so, a kid LIVES the story.

No...if you put a baby in front of a living lion, he or she won't be terrified...babies are so cute :)

I think this is a poor way to allow a child to watch tv. It may be that the child did not see enough to become scared but the more time allowed to watch such things could really affect a child even if their acknowledgement of such pictures are noticeable.
