Well, there's Facebook. It isn't a scam site if you look at your privacy settings. There's Twitter, tumblr, Polyvore, Google+, Quotev.

These are all "social" sites that I have and as far as I know they aren't costly.

Instagram is pretty good, I have it myself. it is simple and easy to use and you can turn your privacy on so people have to request to follow you and see your images.
