I have a decent amount in a savings account. i'm going to ferris state if that helps. i have a girlfriend but she is not the demanding gift wise. i plan on going home most weekends and am planning on about $850 for that on gas per school year. i would like to know from experience how much it costs on everyday stuff per school year. thanks

This will vary greatly from person to person. If you plan on being a bum during the week or simply walk to local places that have cheap prices or discounts for college students, you can plan on it being fairly cheap for day to day expenses (I think $9 is the average spent on food for a day). Just the fact of if you're a smoker or not can really change how much you spend per day.
I know that the food and drinks I buy for work cost me between $5 a day to $10 a day depending on if I want an extra bottle of water and some healthier snack foods or if I just buy a cheap bottle of water and some gum.
I would start keeping a talley of what you normally buy each day for a week, then take an average, add %15 or so and use that figure. Then start to add in your weekend trips, cable bills, coin laundry, rent and all the other wonderful bills.
alright thank you
