Can a rental application for a new home be denied because of an expired driver's licence?

I suppose it depends on the set of requirements listed by the renting agent.

If It's not legal I might find another reason to deny the applicant. The first thoughts in my head are: 1. Was the person denied the right to drive by the court so the applicant just let it expire so why would the court do that? What kind of trouble did they get into and do we want that kind of person living here? 2. How could someone be that stupid to let such an important thing be forgotten so will they forget to pay rent?

It looks bad which raises further questions.
