Okay, so my neighbors have two horses. One is the size of a big dog and the other is a good riding size. I have been taking lessons, and I am about a novice rider. My neighbor said he doesn't really want "us kids" riding her because she half-heartedly bucks. I LOVE riding and it would realty help me improve if I could ride more than once a week. What should I do?

First, sit back on the saddle, heel down toes up to the sky, head looking up ahead NOT AT THE HORSE! Second, use your voice in a calm way do not yell. Massage the reins to let the horse know that what he is doing is not right and it will try to calm him down. Do a little pull and release/half halt. If that doesn't work: get a crop and show him it, tap him gently on the shoulder or butt, don whack him hard. That will make him more angry and buck more. If he throws his head sit up tall and pull and release! Say whoa . Good luck
Alike the other response given, stay in the saddle and keep your heels up! Try to sit as much as you can and saw the reins a little bit (pull one back, then the other and so on) but not too hard. Just remember to stay calm, because if you tense up the horse will be able to feel it, and it will tense up as well.
