Actually, it's a trilogy. It's about these people who colonize this planet. Only problem is there's something dark and evil there. They create a new religion that uses prayer to hold the evil at bay. One of the Knights of this new religion is forced to team up with a former Knight who made a pact with these powers to extend his life. Does any of this ring any bells?
