BF gives me one word answers??

Question

So I reccently started dating this one guy (online) and we talk and actually have a nice time but, sometimes I wanna get in a good conversation with him and he sends simple answers that make it akward. I do have him in this group chat and he talks a lot more there. He is a shy guy and its cute but, is there anyway to make him speak more?? Hes only barely begin to start asking me questions and I love to answer But soon after he'll start sending one word replys

How can I get good convos from him?? How can I get him just a teeny bit interested in me?? >~< Do I have to hold off replying him too fast?? (I reply fairly quickly when he send me something)

Hi, I hope my answer helps.
1) Reply speed depends on the chatting mood. When you guys are in a good mood, do reply within a minute to keep the chat flows. When he is busy, reply slowly as he will not have time to read. When you guys are having an awkward chat, reply fast or slow depending on the topics you touch.
2) Ask him some questions too. It would be good if you guys can find the same interests while getting to know each other. But do put in some of your opinions instead of just making him feels like its a speaking test. Add in some humour, put in some emoticons and hint about your feelings for him.
3) Do not afraid to speak up what you want. You guys are dating so both of you have responsibility to keep the chat going. If you thinks his answer is too short, tell him politely. Do not give unsure answer as this might confuse him. Be direct ! 
At last, understand that not all guys like to spend time texting. Give him a surprise call sometimes after asking his permission. I wish the best for you two !
