My best friends birthday is coming up, and I have no clue what to get her. She isn't really a preppy girl, she is more dark and geeky. We have been friends for a about a year, but neither of us like cameras, so we don't have a ton of photos together. I want to make/get her something really personal, but can't figure out what.

Well, it depends on a lot of different things. I will recommend you a few gift ideas, as I too have a dark, geeky friend, but she may be a little different.
1) You say she is geeky? does that mean she is into a lot of different fandoms? (ex. Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Pretty Little Liars, etc) if so, you could look for something based on those. I got my friend a Harry Potter Wand once because she is in love with Harry Potter. (I may have the wrong interpretation of geeky)
2) does she like jewelry? could you get her a necklace, or a bracelet, or even an anklet? maybe have her name put on it? Earrings.are always nice too (if her ears are pierced)
3) this option depends on how good you are with computers. First, do you have any pictures of her? not one? even a school picture or something? if you do, you could upload it to your computer, as well as her favorite movie character or something, and replace their head with hers
4) This goes along with the last option, but there is an app called Bitmoji that lets you personalize an "emoji" set to look like your face! or hers, in your case! and after you create your character, you can use text with it, such as lol, goodmorning, hello, and cool!
5) My last idea is to get her a decoration for her room, or something to hang on her wall. Maybe even paint something yourself! My zodiac sign is cancer, so I have a wire cancer decoration on my wall.
