I work in the labeling and packaging department of a food processing factory. I started from the bottom when I joined the company last year and gradually trained to run the production lines. I enjoyed it more than the other jobs so I applied for the position full time, meaning that I would be running the production lines every day. I had also trained to work in our packaging room where stock checks are performed and equipment is issued to other departments. We only have one full-time packaging operative and four months ago he fell very ill and was hospitalised. Since then, the company have needed someone else to do his job whilst he is away. I had never really liked working in there but was willing to help if my Team Leader put others in for training as well; therefore I wouldn’t be working in there every day. My Team Leader refused saying “You’re the only one I trust to do this job” and I have been working in there every day since.
I put up with it at first but now it’s starting to take the piss. Especially since I finally got a chance to run a production line last week and was shouted at for not being able to set it up correctly (it’s been four months since I last set up a production line).
What do I do?
