I am a sophomore in highschool this year, and I would like to go into a veterinary medical field. I do not know the significant difference between a large animal vet/equine vet. I researched the salary of both of these, and I learned that the salary for the equine vet is almost double that of a large animal vet. I would like to earn as much money as possible, and I want to go into this field because of horses. So, would an equine vet alone be my best choice? Also, I am currently taking Pre-Calc, Genetics, and Chemistry. I have an A in all my classes and a 92 in Chemistry. I have taken Algebra 2, Biology, Geometry, etc. What classes in the future should I take? How long will I be in college in order to get my degree?

First I'll start with the difference, a large animal vet will treat anything (Horses, Cows, Sheep, Goats, Llama's, ect..) while an Equine Vet will only treat horses. I wouldn't look at it from a "What earns more money" point of view as I would a "What is needed more in my area" point of view. For instance if there are not that many horses around you then your not going to make the money being an equine vet, but you might be living in cattle country where a large animal vet is more needed.
