Hi. I have a big old barn and the roof needs so minor repairs. The rafters and perlins are perfect but the A Frames need replacing. I can do this without having to take the roof down lucky. But my roof hasn't got felt due to an old protection act. So I was wondering when I take down an A Frames one at a time can I use a felt substitute or felt on the inside between the perlins and new A Frames? If I have to take the roof down it will cost me a fortune so was hoping that there's a solution. Cheers

Certainly! It's great that you're addressing the needed repairs on your barn roof. When replacing the A-Frames, you can consider using a synthetic roof underlayment as a substitute for traditional felt. This underlayment provides similar protection against moisture while offering improved durability and resistance to tearing. Additionally, you can install the underlayment between the purlins and new A-Frames to enhance protection without having to take down the entire roof. However, it's essential to ensure proper installation and compatibility with your roofing materials for optimal performance. If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out to a roofing professional for personalized guidance and recommendations.
