For you to get the money from the CD (certificate of deposit) it must be in your name and you must be able to offer up proof that it is yours by showing the court papers which awarded you the money - I doubt that it is in your name because you were under the age of 18 when it was purchased. Your parents may be listed as the guardians of you on the CD until you turn 18. Consult a lawyer and prove your case or your parents will continue to maintain control over the CD. Many Attorney's have a free consultation so be sure to ask for it.
