find frequency amplitude and period

There are some things you memoprize because you keep seeing them all the time. The cosine function varies from -1 to +1 so the amplitude is 2. Then you multip-ly that by 3, so the amplitude of your example is 6. The argument of the cosine function is 2πf
2πf = 0.5
f = 0.5/(2π) = 1/(4π) and that is radians per unit x.
Period = 1/f = 2π/0.5 = 4π
