I have a 99 saturn sl2. After replacing the valve body the car does not shift into 2nd gear automatically. The shop said all cars react differently to learning the shift patterns and that I need to manually shift into 2nd or 3rd for awhile up to 100 miles or so before it may learn. After starting the engine (even if it is not yet moving) if I shift manually into 2nd or 3rd and back to drive it will run fine automatically until shut off and then must be done again next time. I cannot find an answer to this anywhere and have never heard of this. Perhaps it has already learned incorrectly and I need to reset the computer again?
