Citizens of the U.S. and Canada do not need a visa to go into Costa Rica. An immigration justification will be imprinted into the passport upon admission, and this provides evidence of legal status in the state. Your identification should be in good condition; Costa Rican authorities may deny admission if the passport is injured. You must also provide proof of forwards travel out of Costa Rica within 90 days, the quantity of time your “tourist visa” is valid. This could be your homecoming plane ticket or a ticket to another state. If you would like to wait longer, you must leave Costa Rica and re-enter. You can do this by flying back to your house country or by traveling to the land border with Nicaragua or Panama.
