I have auditions coming up soon for the melodramatic comedy The Drunkard The Musical based on the novel written in the 1840s. The musical came out in the 70s so contains some slightly riskier jokes and is centered around Mary and her mother whose house is under the risk of being sold before she falls in love with Edward, who under the fault of the villain of the show, Mr.Cribbs, becomes a drunkard, and alcohol is a huge theme of the production. The whole show is very what I only can describe as "hammy" with some characters even interacted with the audience. I was thinking something humorous like Shy from Once Upon a Mattress but I really am having trouble finding something that fits. I typically sing soprano so songs for that voice type would be preferable.
