I work in fast food and never get off at my rostered time. Say my shift is 11-3, i won't get told I can go until around 15mins to an hour after my rostered time. Is this normal? I need to go as soon as possible as I have other commitments and feel I should have the right to leave when my shift is over. Btw I get paid for staying but I'd rather clock out as soon as possible.

i wouldn't think its normal are you getting paid i think depending if you have been there along time any worker should be allowed to get off at scheduled time i would tell the shift leader or the owner that you need to beable to get off at your scheduled time that you have other commitments that you need to keep and them letting you go to late in the hour to take care of your oblgations and you would be grateful if you could take care of those commitments
As Softbabe says, you should tell them that you have to go to some other commitment that cannot wait, collecting a child, taking someone elderly to a regular appointment. It doesn't have to be a lie, but an excuse is necessary if your workplace is not giving you leave to go at the agreed time.
If this is what was agreed in the terms of your employment then this is probably the best way to get out on time, if you make a big noise about it your employer may hold it against you later.
