so in August last year I moved in with two of my friends to a house in a university area. The rent is 200 each. The house looked lovely and well presented when we viewed the house but as we moved in I noticed that my room got a very damp smell and mould started to appear on the walls. I have bad asthma and eczema. My chest got very bad and my skin got so dry. The estate agents said that it was condensation so I got a dehumidifier and made sure I never dried any clothes anywhere near the room etc but the damp smell continued and the mould kept growing. I've had to move back into my parents temporarily. My boyfriend and I decided to look for an apartment and we found one that we love. I have just seen the application form and they are asking for a reference from the last estate agents. As my contract isn't up and it overlaps would this affect my application? We have put a deposit down and everything. I have environmental health coming out to see the old house so they can tell the other company that I cannot live there for health reasons, but if I cannot get out of contract I am willing to pay the 200 per month plus my other 200 for new apartment. Should his affect my new tenancy application for the new apartment? Is there anything I can do? The application is through a 3rd party endsleigh.

well if you were on a 12 or 6 month lease they can come after you but if you have someone who is going to pat with you to say you can't live there for health reasons you might be able to take them to court and win agianst them you might be able to get out of the contract and lease because of it take pictures to show the judge it will work in your favor it shouldn't effect you as long as you have someone on your side it would be very much in your favor but i would take it to court if you have to
