I'm considering telling my teacher about a past event that happened over a year ago. I have already told one of my teachers at middle school, but now I'm in high school and none of the teachers know. I would really like to have someone at my school to know about this because sometimes I still feel really sad and scared that it's going to happen again. I love my mom and I don't want her to get in trouble.
Are teachers required to report past abuse?

My mom has hit me since the last event, so it actually wasn't over a year ago, more like six months...but it was still a long time ago. It left a big bruise and people started to ask me what was wrong and I had to lie my way out of it. I really need to talk about this with other people, but I'm afraid that if I bring it up, they'll just immediately report it and not listen to me.

If you need to speak to someone do it, but if it's endangering you, especially as a student they will most likely have to report it due to duty of care. I am so sorry that this is happening to you and do you mind me asking how old you are? because if you're in highschool and your mum still hits you i'd be concerned. If your mum loved you as much as you love her she wouldn't hurt you, you have to speak to someone! Domestic violence is so serious, if you are genuinely concerned for your wellbeing.
When I posted it, I was 14. Now, I'm 15, almost 15 and a half.
