I have a bet with someone about wether or not machines will actually be able to feel emotions (when the technology exists) instead of just simulating them. I'm pretty sure that they could be able to feel emotions. I would like to know why that wouldn't be possible.
Are emotions restricted to biological beings?

Most of what we call emotions are actually habits that had to be learned at some point. For example, you had to learn when to be angry and how to act in each case. Anger management is simply learning new habits.
Some animals desire companionship, but you have to figure out for yourself what to call "emotion" and what to call "pack tendency" or "herd instinct".
