Are corriander and commino seeds the same thing for a recipe?

No they are different seeds.
While both can have a certain amount of "heat", cumin (comino) is much warmer and "darker" in flavor. In the West, coriander seed is used most often in sweet pastries while cumin is used most often with meats and other savory dishes.
