i know somebody who cannot understand social situations, she cant seem to realize when she crosses boundaries or when other people feel differently about things to her, she doesn't cope with negative situations and cries a lot even when it is uncalled for (i was upset and didn't want to talk about it so she cried and refused to talk to me for 3 days because she didn't understand that i wanted to cope with it alone even though i told her multiple times and she thought i didn't want to be her friend because i was too "distant") she also only understands her feelings and doesn't see that other people will think differently and so when a problem occurs she assumes everybody will react the same way and gets very angry and upset when people don't. instances such as somebody not liking her have caused her to self harm even when it was a petty situation. she constantly needs reassurance that people like her and everything like that, is there something different with her mentally??
Any mental illness that makes someone unable to understand social situations/ be too sensitive???

Maybe, its difficult to say. She may just view the world differently, or haven't really been told things that most people know. She could have some form of retardation though, but just because she has different views I don't think that anything is wrong with her. Everyone has different views on things, and she could just be an irritable person. I would say, I don't really know, if you want to find out have her get a professional evaluation.
no she definitely has a mental disorder. she has been to multiple psychiatrists since she was a child. they all don't know how to diagonose her. one said she has an under developed brain, where as another said it was ad/hd & Bi polar
