So a while ago there was an incident with my father. He began choking, tensed up, and then passed out. I had thought I'd just watched him die and we were calling 911 when he came to and claimed to be fine. Ever since then I panic a whenever someone gets into a coughing fit until I know they are okay. I've talked to my doctor about anxiety before and I've had other anxiety issues before, but none like this. I think I'm going to looks into meds. Is that a good idea? I just want to get through my odd fear of coughing lol.

First of all, your reaction is perfectly normal considering the circumstances. Good job talking with your doctor, that's always the first things I recommend (because most people don't even think of it)! I think before you look into meds, talk with your doctor (or parents) about therapy. Personally I think meds are always a last-resort. Therapy can help you get rid of your fear, so It can't hurt to try it out, just like 1 hour a week.
Hope this helps!
