An individual from my bank gave my ex wife my personal information regarding a mortgage application. My ex wife passed this information to her solicitor and it is being used in a court case against me. Is this a criminal offense by the individual that works in the bank. Can I claim compensation from the bank for breaching the data protection act. Should my ex wife have passed this information on to her solicitor knowing it was gained illegally. Can evidence gained through a breach of the data protection act be used in a court case.

well i know that when you give someones personal information did the guy have permission to do so sometimes when you apply for some type of benefits they have you sign something saying you release your personal information so the bank can get information or give information if you didn't sign something giving permission for the bank to give out or recieve information they can get information does you ex do bussiness with the same bank? i would be looking into this you wouldn't think this would include her
yes they are you don't have to give her the information and the bank is in breach as well as her and her solicitor
Thank you
No I didn't give permission and it was a sole application, I did phone the ICO and they said it was a deliberate breach of the data protection act from the bank but I want to know if my ex and her solicitor are also in breach of the data protection act for knowingly receiving and disclosing unlawful data.
