p% of a total t (100%) equals t x 0.01p. Thus:
0.3 x 0.89 + 0.1 x 0.667 + 0.6 x p = 0.4
0.6p = 0.4 - (0.3 x 0.89 + 0.1 x 0.667)
p = (0.4 - (0.3 x 0.89 + 0.1 x 0.667)) / 0.6
p = 0.1105
So you have to achieve 11.05% in the last exam to get a total score of 40%.
