Is there an acoustics explanation for why in loud environments like restaurants I can hear songs I know more easily than songs I don't know?
An acoustics reason why songs I know seem louder than songs I don't know in a loud restaurant?

It's actually more of a psychological reason. Because you know these songs (and either like them or hate them) your brain will automatically bring them to the front of your consciousness as apposed to one you don't recognize. Or maybe the person just starts playing louder when it's a song you like (though I highly doubt that)
