a friend died 1 1/2 yrs. ago- I donated $700 towards the cost of her burial- her family continues to ask me to pay more-I feel I did what a friend should already - I do not want to feel bad/guilty if I am unable to spend more- am I wrong?
Am I wrong to not want to give a friend who died 1 1/2 yrs ago more $ towards her funeral?

my main complaint is that my friend has family who should help out- I was just a friend - I feel my help should be appreciated/not be expected to pay more -

first of all, I am sorry to hear about your loss.
A seven-hundred dollar donation is a very good one. Second if you cannot afford to donate more, then your friend's family shouldn't be trying to make you pay more. paying for the funeral should be the loved one's family responsibility. It's good that you helped pay for the costs, but you need to live within your means.
Sorry for your loss.
I don't see what upkeep fees there might be. A decent slab ought to be weather resistant, visitors clean it as necessary. Haven't needed restoration in 20yrs, until some clergyman tried to convince someone it was (obviously suggested a $5k replacement over $100 retouch). Care for your friend is expressed by consoling frequenters, not donation.
