I am 16 years old and I took a professional(non-Internet) IQ test. My results came back stating that I had an IQ of 181. I was offered to skip two grades in school however I refused. I know I'm gifted however this shocked me! My parents weren't surprised and are telling people about the results. Is this really possible? Are the results wrong? Am I really that smart?

Unless the test was given by a psychologist or psychiatrist I wouldn't go around pounding my chest and bragging. Tests given at school are not always the most accurate. You could have a high IQ but without common sense or some street smarts and ability to socialize that big number can be a liability.

First let's get that "gifted" bullsnot out of the way. The word comes from the bible where God gave some ministers of various kinds. People totally miss that it's not a gift to the minister, the minister is a gift to the church. So when you think you might be "gifted", well, we just have to wait and see what you do.
Nobody knows what iq is, not even the people who sell the test. The test was developed to predict whether French boys, not girls, could do well in a specific French academy. They say there is nothing you can do to improve your score, but they have always known that the youngest boy in a class always gets the highest score. If you take a legitimate test, they will not tell you what your score is. Since you know your score, you took a wildcat copy of the test. Your first clue is that the score is above 130. A normal score is around 100.
You were wise to decline the promotion. Social skill is far more important that grade level. Vocal skill is even more important. I suggest you take acting classes and concentrate on developing vocal skill, such as story telling. Get a copy of "Dress For Success" by John Molloy and consider all his advice for students. But don't get hung up on expensive clothes.
