Adding extra ram on laptop?

Hey ,
I have an Acer laptop with 4gb of ram already installed ,I was wondering if I could add an 8gb stick of ram as it does get a bit laggy when I want to switch between playing and accessing the web.

I ran a few steps and looked on the web which said my laptop could support up to 16gb of ram and I have 2 slots one of which has the pre installed 4gb and the other one is empty.

Do you think I could install a 8gb stick in the second slot and also if it could allow me to switch faster between gaming and other stuff.

Look up the crucial ram test, that's what I used for my laptop.  It will scan your computer and tell you which ram is compatible with your motherboard, cause ya, you should be able to add 8 more gigs, but you have to be sure you purchase the right ram.

The laggy part is when the memory manager has to swap RAM out to the drive. It is not crucial to have large amounts of RAM any more. It is more important now to have a fast drive. It is time for you to install a solid state drive, SSD. Go to www.howtogeek.com/ for instructions.
