Hi! I've had acne for about 6 years, and was hoping to find some help and advice. I tend to get pimples mainly around my mouth, chin area, and forehead. My cheeks have never really been a problem. I get mostly whiteheads and blackheads, and I have oily skin. I am 15 at the moment, but when I was 14, my acne was really starting to clear up. I was using the Oxy Benzoil Peroxide cleanser. Out of curiosity one day, I decided to switch to a Salycic Acid cleanser. This was the biggest mistake. My skin freaked out, and I started breaking out in a way I hadn't in a long time. I was scared, and switched back to my original cleanser, which no longer worked. My skin was so dry and flaky, putting makeup over it wouldn't even cover it up. Right now, I am on Proactiv +, which has helped some, but I still have multiple pimples on my face. My parents won't take me to the dermatologist, because of the expense. Also, this summer, I'm trying not to wear any foundation, except on special occasions, hoping that maybe that will help my acne clear up faster. I'm literally trying almost everything I can. I'm exercising daily, my diet is good, and I'm trying to drink more water, and be careful on my dairy intake. So, I could use all the advice I can get! Thanks so much. :-)

Keep up the exercise and water. Perhaps each morning have a glass of warm water with some lemon juice in, and it will clear your system. Also, you could start taking vitamins? You will definitely grow out of it, so don't worry but for now, use something natural on your skin like Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser from the body shop. I have very oily skin, but it can also get very dry so I use Aveeno mousteriser which is very good. I tend to alternate between simply washing my face with water, and this cleanser. Perhaps every other day you could use a more harsh cleanser. I also steam my face once a week for five mins. Wash your face with a soft cleanser first, then put your face over a glass bowl of bowling water with some olbas or aloe vera oil in it.. with a towel over your head, and keep relatively far away so you don't burn your skin. Then wash your face with cold water. Only do it once a week. Also, dont use a flanel on your face or exfoliate everyday. Exfoliate before the steaming, once a week. I also find that a little bit of sun really helps long term. Don't burn, but the vitamin d is very good. Also go to bed on time and relax! Oh yeah- im 17, and I have triedfo years to clear my skin and I am evidently growing out of it, so you will probably too.
Thank you for the advice!
if taking vitamins i would really recommend biotin prenatal pills. theres so many good vitamins for your face in them. btw, make sure youre washing your face with warm water to open your pores then when done, using cold water to close them. simple moisturizer is great for oily skin. cetaphil wash also.
i have had severe acne since 8th grade and i am almost 20 years old now. it is JUST NOW starting to go away because i laid off on ANY products that say its for "acne treatment" and stuck with mainly natural soaps like clear foaming wash or something like the neutrogenia clear face bar with is only $4. and i started using all natural essential oils. (rosehip, tea tree, almond, peppermint, grapeseed). try to avoid soaps with scrubby beads in them and products with salylic acid because those typically make your face red, burned, dry, and irritated. the way the companies make them is to make you keep breaking out so you continue to purchase them and they continue to make money. and also, youre not supposed to be rough with your face, even when washing. your body works from the inside out so anything you ingest that is toxic HAS to come out somehow (through urine, through your pores) so you have to make sure youre hydrated, lots of water. lots of dark greens. dont forget to use moisturizer, even if your face is oily, it may sound funny like "why add oil to oil?" but believe it or not natural oils balance out your oil glands and help them produce the right amount of oil, not too much not too little. try not to wear makeup or chemicals when you dont have to, your face needs time to breath and is tired of all the products. and the most important thing, STAY ON A ROUTINE. it takes almost 3 months to see results in any self treatment, so stick to it. dont give up. wash your face day and night, dont sleep in makeup, and use oils.
Thank you!
