A lady was murdered and dumped in a culvert right by my house! The police say no need to worry, why?

They have no details of who, how or why yet they can say matter of factly that residents in the area need not worry?? I am confused please help!!

Well, a lot of the time they say don't worry because they don't want to alarm anyone till they know more about why she was murdered that's all it's about when they have more information they will let everybody know.
