Hot scenes: depends on the audience you wish to attract, but I would not go further than softcore love making, but that might also be too much... in my opinion, keep it PG-13, unless your feeling brave, in that case keep it R rated. Don't write softcore love scenes unless you're writing an adult novel.

A fantasy novel should not exceed 130,000 words, but publishers will like you better if you can keep it shorter than 75,000 words per book. The number of chapters is not as important as the number of words in your book.
