If you pick just one night this year to go out and look up, make it tonight (Sept. 27). If skies are clear, expect a delightful treat as a total eclipse of the moon occurs in rare circumstances that will render the moon slightly bigger than normal, a so-called "supermoon."
Sometimes, the moon looks larger when it is close to the horizon. It is known as the "Moon illusion." It takes place when the moon is rising or setting. Even though the moon's dimension would not genuinely change, our brains suppose it appears large when it is close to matters like timber or structures on the horizon. It's more about how our brains see it in contrast to the environment than the moon sincerely getting bigger.
