The residual hearing loss could be from any number of reasons. Most hearing test location will do a free evaluation and test to make sure everything is OK, or perhaps see if their is an additional issue that was missed initially (a which point they will send you to an ENT if needed). A hearing test "never" hurt anyone, seems like an easy answer.
It's not uncommon to experience some residual hearing issues even after an ear infection has cleared. Ear infections can cause temporary hearing loss due to fluid buildup, inflammation, or middle ear congestion. In most cases, hearing gradually returns to normal as the ear heals and any remaining fluid or congestion clears. However, if hearing hasn’t fully returned after a couple of weeks, there could be lingering effects, such as residual fluid behind the eardrum, mild damage to the delicate structures in the ear, or an ongoing issue with eustachian tube function.
