My vet needs to know or do we assume she has not been given them and do it again?

You probably purchased from a backyard breeder or puppy mill. You should NEVER EVER buy from a breeder who ships or delivers. You should go get the dog yourself and see the kennel, see how the breeding dog/s are housed and how puppies are raised. They should be indoors with the family being socialized and the puppy should be a minimum of 9 weeks old when you take ownership. Younger is not healthy physically or psychologically.
You should read the medical paperwork for the breeding dogs proving they were healthy and without the problems indicative to the breed which you should have researched.
The chances are the dog is not pedigreed and you cannot register it without those papers. I'd report the kennel to the AKC and Better Business Bureau in their state and with whatever publication if that's where you got the name of the breeder.
I'd have my vet do a total physical on my dog including blood tests and vaccinations. If there are medical issues you want to be prepared for them and anticipate what to look for. If the breeder is nothing more than a puppy mill (mid-west and south are notorious for them) then the odds are good the dog will develop some health issues.
Good luck.
