44, period 1 week early with heavy flow (4xusual). Possible reasons?

Perimenopause can cause heavy and irregular periods. If there is a possibility that you were pregnant you may be miscarrying. If it's really 4x usual I might ask a doctor- that for me would be a lot of blood.
