I've never dyed or bleached my hair before, so i want to try it.
I have long black hair (im asian) and i want to dye the tips of my hair red.
since i have black hair, i probably need to bleach it
but i heard that bleaching it will damage your hair and you'll regret it.
should i bleach the tips of my hair then dye it or do you think just dyeing it will work?
and also, whats the worse that could happen while dying the tips of my hair?
ps : i dont want to go to a salon because i dont want to use that much money just to dye the tips of my hair
Should I bleach my hair before dying it or not?

I don't know much about hair. So i never knew that you could just dye your hair red. I always thought you had to bleach before dying black hair but i asked my friend who dyes her hair a lot and i found out that you could just dye your hair on top of dark black hair.
anyways, i wanted to know how much damage does it do to your hair when u dye it?
I know i sound like such a worry wart with thousands of questions but im very nervous when it comes to touching my natural clean and healthy but boring hair

Personally, I think it'd look really good. I wanted to do something like this myself by getting my hair cut very, very short, dying it, and let it grow out with only the tips dyed. For you, I'd recommend bleach first because Asian hair is pretty hard to dye and doesn't take colour as strongly as other hair.
In terms of damage, you're limiting damage by only dying the tips of your hair. You won't do any damage to the rest of your hair. In terms of safety and something going wrong, again you are protecting yourself by only doing the tips. If the worst comes to the absolute worst, you can cut the offending part off.
If you're still worried, do a small area first (i.e. just the tips of a small fingerful of hair (about 20 or 30 strands) and keep it tied together with an elastic band or a bunch. Give it a few hours to dry properly and if you like the way it looks, do the rest.
Good luck! I think it's going to look great.
Bleaching your hair before you dye it will make the color show up more and better, but there are a few drawbacks to bleaching it. Bleaching can leave your hair feeling dry and brittle and, overall, it's just not healthy for your hair. Also, after your hair color starts to fade the bleached hair will have a orange/yellow tint to it that is just not a great color. Although, if you do decide to bleach your hair i do recommend using a hair toner after you bleach it and before you dye it. The toner will help the brassy color and it should also help the dry, bad texture.
Bleaching your hair would make the red pop. But honestly depends what kind of red you are going for. and if you do not know what your doing, as a professional hairstylist i wouldnt recomend bleaching yourself. If your hair has never been colored , and asian hair has alot of red pigment as it lightens, theres professional hair color that could lift natural hair to a nice red tone. You just have to find a salon that works for you.
Bleaching hair can create striking color results, making it a popular choice for those looking to achieve blonde shades or vibrant colors. However, it isn’t necessarily “good” for hair health, as it involves using strong chemicals to strip natural pigments, which weakens the hair’s structure and can lead to dryness, brittleness, and breakage.
