Hey all, I have a 1995 Aura Integra lS with 240,000 miles, manual transmission, all original stock parts minus the exhaust.
So I know about cars, I just don't know too much about repairing them, sorry if this post seems really stupid or whatever.. lol
So about 3 years ago , every once in awhile y car would take more than one turn of the key to get started, and it would always make a click noise when I turned the key. It would usually do this when it was cold outside. The longer I had it the more often it would do it, until recently about 6 weeks ago, I turned the key and instead of a click noise, I got a wear sound that sounded like a power drill was going off under my hood. So I waited a few moments, tried it again and it started.
Well now it's making that noise more often, about once every few days. And today when I went to start my car, I turned my key over and took about 80 tries, or "clicks" to get my car to finally start.
I assume that this is the starter failing... A friend of mine said to tap the starter with a hammer, but I have no idea where the starter is .. what it looks like or how hard to hammer it etc...
I just simply don't have any money to put towards fixing my car at the moment. Any help would be appreciated , thank you !
