I have two cats, a male and a female (both fixed, and indoor only) lately my male cat has been attacking the female. I’m so confused because they normally get along so well, I got them both as kittens (separate litters) but they grew up together, they groom each other and cuddle regularly.
My male cat is quite a bit bigger than my female, so he has always played a little too rough for her, but lately he just seemingly attacks her, pulling out chunks of fur, and making her cry.
Please help me understand why my babies are fighting
Why are my cats fighting?

He's always bullied her and gotten away with it. How much exercise does he get? Get a kitty teaser and laser light. Set up two 30 min play sessions a day and play him hard let him get all his aggression and energy used up in play.
Go to the hardware or grocery store buy a 32 oz plastic spray bottle. Put water in it set it stream. No mist. It needs to shoot a stream of water out several feet. This is the best behavior training tool you can use.
When he attacks her in any way you say No! in a lower very firm voice. Give him a chance to stop. If he does not you spritz him a couple times with the water. Choose one term for what you don't want him to do. Make it short and don't change it. Leave it! Stop it! Something along that line. You want him to
understand the command so when he does it and hears it he knows what he should not be doing. Don't use the same term that you use when you want him off the counter for instance. It should be specific to that one behavior. Used correctly it should take 2 weeks to train him . It will get to the point all you have to do is pick up the bottle and show it to him and he'll become an angel. They do not associate you with the water. Don't ask why, I dont know. All the fosters use it in the rescue i volunteer with. Works great. I even had one cat who ran to me for protection and I'm the one who did it so i just put the bottle down and hugged him. It still worked!
Are you positive they are both fixed.
Dont forget to give him play times. You can also buy Rescue Remedy at a health food store and start putting drop in their drinking water. It's a flower essence calmative.
Good luck.
