(14) A projectile is launched horizontally at a speed of 30. meters per second from a platform located a vertical distance h above the ground. The projectile strikes the ground after 2.5 sat horizontal distance d from the base of the platform. [Neglect friction.]



Calculate the horizontal distance traveled by the projectile, if the time of flight is 2.5 s.

Answer

You don't need SUVAT equations for this. Usually you'll need to work out how long it took to hit the ground but we're told it's 2.5s. With no friction, the projectile travels at 30m/s for 2.5s. Hence 75m.
